Construction of our new storage shed is underway!
In January 2018
, the Friends received approval from the Blair City Council to erect a 20′ x 40′ detached shed at the Shelter.
Using the new shed for storage will open up the Shelter garage for the expansion of animal services.
The Friends are using local businesses for materials including S.E. Smith & Sons Lumber, Lyman-Richey Inc./Gerhold Concrete Co., Blair, and McKinnis Inc.
Volunteers involved in this project include Mark Breuer, Blake Gayer, and a special shout-out to our Shelter manager’s husband, Travis, who was “the concrete man”, and including Chad Johnson, Logan Contractor’s Supply (who provided the excavator and rebar for the footings), and Chris Menn, CR Menn Concrete who provided four men and tools to place the concrete. All volunteers who have laid a solid building foundation!
We are excited to be collaborating with Mr. Ed Mills, Skilled and Technical Services Instructor with the Blair Schools using students in the Skills USA Program to build the building.
Stay tuned for updates as this project progresses.
